A big timer students can see from the back row

Set the time, press Start and then Full screen. In full screen the setup buttons disappear and only the large countdown and the progress bar remain, so it is easy to read on a projector, interactive whiteboard or TV. The bar shrinks as time passes and changes color — yellow when 30% of the time is left and red for the last 10% — so students can see at a glance how much time remains. When time is up, an alarm sounds and the numbers flash.

How to use it

  1. Choose a preset or type the minutes and seconds.
  2. Press Start (or the space bar). Press it again to pause.
  3. Click Full screen to project it. Press Esc to exit.

Ideas for using a timer in class

  • Transitions — Give 2 minutes to tidy up or move into groups.
  • Think-pair-share — 1 minute to think alone, 3 minutes to discuss with a partner.
  • Quizzes and timed writing — Make the time limit visible to everyone, not just the teacher.
  • Presentations — Give every group the same amount of time so the lesson stays on schedule.
  • Brain breaks — A 3–5 minute stretch or movement break helps students refocus.

FAQ

Can I show only the timer, without the rest of my screen?

Yes. Full screen shows only the timer. Press Esc when you are done and go back to your slides.

Does it work on an interactive whiteboard or tablet?

Yes. It runs in any modern browser, and you can tap the buttons directly on a touch screen.

Will the timer stop if I switch to my slides?

No. The countdown is based on the real clock, so it keeps time correctly in the background and the alarm still sounds when time is up.
